Prestigious Recognition for Professor Tomasz Ciach – Among the Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide

We are proud to announce that Professor Tomasz Ciach, DSc, PhD, a Member of the Management Board of NanoGroup S.A. and Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology, has been included in the prestigious group of the top 2% of the world’s most influential scientists.

The ranking is published by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and is based on an analysis of bibliometric data from the Scopus database. It identifies researchers whose scientific contributions are among the most highly cited and have the greatest impact on the development of their respective fields worldwide.

Credibility and Methodology

The list was first published in 2019 by a research team led by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis of Stanford University and has been updated annually ever since. Its aim was to create a transparent, comparable and manipulation-resistant tool for assessing scientific impact. Today, the ranking is used by universities, research institutes and research funding organisations around the world.

The assessment is based on multidimensional indicators, including citation counts, the h-index and the composite citation-based impact score (c-score). The analysis is conducted within subdisciplines, enabling a more meaningful comparison of researchers across different fields.

Professor Tomasz Ciach’s Ranking Position:

• Field: Engineering

• Subdiscipline: Biomedical Engineering

• Rank: 1,267 out of 70,250 researchers

This high ranking confirms the substantial international impact of his research and its importance to the advancement of biomedical engineering. According to the Scopus database maintained by Elsevier, Professor Tomasz Ciach’s scientific record comprises 153 publications, cited more than 3,000 times in total, with an h-index of 33.

Why Do Citations Matter?

Citations are one of the key indicators of scientific impact: they show that research findings are being used by independent research teams as a reference point for further work. This represents an external assessment of research quality, rather than simply a measure of publication output.

Congratulations to Professor Tomasz Ciach! We are proud that scientific expertise of the highest international standard is helping to drive the development of NanoGroup S.A.
